Fitness test

The fitness test Peel Regional Police uses, and its pass mark.

  • Physical Readiness Evaluation for Police (PREP)

    Required

"Before becoming a police officer, you must complete a fitness test to show you can safely handle the physical parts of the job." The test has two parts: the Pursuit Restraint Circuit (PRC) and the 20-Metre Shuttle Run (Beep Test); "Both must be passed to move forward in the hiring process." The PRC is a 100-metre obstacle course in which you climb stairs, climb over a 4-foot fence, look over a 6.5-foot barrier, crawl under a low obstacle, use strength-testing machines and drag a 170-pound mannequin for 15 metres; "You must finish the course in 2 minutes and 37 seconds or less to pass." On the 20-Metre Shuttle Run (Beep Test), "You must reach Level 7.0 to pass." The fitness test is step 5 of the seven-step application process. Peel runs an "Introduction to the PREP" recruiting event. Note: the page prose names the two components (PRC and Beep Test) rather than using the word PREP in the body text.
